About the Opportunity
As a growing health authority, Sapotaweyak
Cree Nation has an opening for a
diligent Community Health Nurse to join its team.
Reporting to the Executive Director of Health,
you will provide Community
Health programs and work cooperatively with other jurisdictions
within First
Nation communities.
Community Health Programs include:

* School Health Education

You will also be responsible for communicating
with other departments,

The ideal candidate will have a strong background
in immunizations, pre and

translater, and change agent who is accountable for promoting excellence in

Senior Practice Leader (SPL) is both broad and complex, encompassing complex
patient care planning, consultation, education, dissemination of research
and administration across programs and systems. The incumbent possesses
expertise in advanced communication, leadership and expert problem solving

supporting the use of current research, evidence/best practice standards in

. Promotes evidenced-based practice and shares knowledge about

to support staff in implementing evidence based practice and in
clinical
research endeavors and promotes and advances best practice through
publications, presentations, and conferences.
. Plans, implements and evaluates appropriate educational programs

To be successful in this role you will need
a level of education, training,
and experience equivalent to a Masters Degree in Nursing, or related
field
and five (5) years recent related experience in progressively
senior
leadership positions or advanced practice roles. Eligible for
registration
with the College of Registered Nurses of BC (CRNBC) and hold current
certification in CPR is necessary. Ideally the incumbent will
demonstrate
professional leadership by holding a certification relevant to
the program
area such as Neonatal Specialty Nursing Certificate or a CNA Certification
in Perinatal Nursing.
The incumbent for this role will also have

This is a senior level position for the
Home and Community Care Program in the Kivalliq Region. Reporting
to the Executive Director, the incumbent will provide program
expertise and will coordinate the support to planning, program
development, service delivery and evaluation for home and community
care programs in the Kivalliq communities. This will involve
coordination of expertise across the department, in partner departments
and agencies, and will emphasize community development and deepening
of community capacity.
The program budget will fluctuate from year
to year, but will be at least $2M and will significantly influence
other program budgets and effectiveness (e.g. community health
services, medical travel, out of territory placements for children
and adults in care, school services, and Nunavut Care and corrections
systems). The incumbent will require sound professional
and practical judgment in the development and implementation of
a safe, effective and efficient Home and Community Care program.
The incumbent is expected to work with minimal supervision in
carrying out day-to-day activities.
Key Responsibilities include; manage the
H&CC program and administrative operation in the eight communities.
Provide professional and clinical supervision, to ensure the safe
and effective delivery of Home and Community services. Coordinate
and facilitate the engagement of external parties, with program
expertise, to support community service design and delivery. Ensure
appropriate training is accessed by program staff. Facilitate
program design to maximize community benefit. Ensure effective
public accountability mechanisms are in place.
In order to be considered for this position
the incumbent must have: A degree or diploma in Nursing, Social
Work or allied health services (e.g. OT), minimum of four years
experience in related field. Registration with the RNA NT/NU to
fulfill legal requirement of the Nursing Professional Act is a
requirement. You'll have sound clinical, professional and managerial
skills and proven skills in planning, organizing, implementing
and evaluating programs. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture,
land and Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit is an asset.
Equivalencies that consist of a combination
of education, knowledge, skills and abilities to formal education
and experience requirement will be considered.
The successful candidate will be required
to go through and pass a Criminal Record Check.
This position is excluded from the Nunavut
Employee's Union and the salary range for this position starts
at $79,307.00 plus a Northern Allowance of $15,234.00 per annum.

Infection Control Practitioner PART (.5) TIME POSITION (37.5 hours bi-weekly) (PIPSC Bargaining Unit)
This position is at the L09 level with an hourly pay rate of$ 28.18 to $ 37.64.
Reporting to the Quality Improvement/Risk Management Manger, this position
supports the strategic goals and objectives of the corporate Infection
Prevention and Control Program; provides Infection Control expertise
within the Whitehorse General Hospital to prevent, and/or minimize,
nosocomial infection to patients; conducts necessary baseline surveillance
and analysis of data for the purpose of identifying, reporting and making
recommendations related to Infection Control issues
The following are knowledge and skills required for this position:
. Knowledge and understanding of basic patient care practices;
. Basic understanding of the principles of cleaning, disinfection and
sterilization processes;
. Understanding of the modes of transmission of infection;
. Basic understanding of and ability to identify Infectious Diseases processes;
. Knowledge of microbiology, immunology, epidemiology and statistical analysis;
. Well developed written and verbal communication skills;
. Ability to plan, organize, analyse and evaluate multiple tasks;
. Ability to interpret information collected from various sources, review scientific
evidence and make recommendation to guide practice;
. Knowledge of regulatory bodies which may impact infection control practice;
. Knowledge of risk management principles, methods and techniques as it relates to Infection
Prevention and Control;
. Recognized training and/or considerable experience in Infection Control;
. Knowledge of program development and evaluation methods and techniques;
. Demonstrates professional commitment to currency in all aspects of
infection prevention, control and health promotion;
. Ability to work independently with a high level of professional judgment
and initiative in making technical decisions involving the analysis of
existing policies and procedures for the Infection Prevention and Control program;
. Knowledge of adult education learning technique;
. Strong prioritization; organizational and problem-solving skills with
the ability to collect and process information from multiple sources to make prudent decisions;
. Ability to intervene effectively to resolve conflict and manage competing demands;
. Demonstrated computer skill proficiency including Windows based programs
(i.e. MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint; and Outlook) with willingness to become
proficient in MEDITECH upon hire; and
. Ability to work in a cross-cultural setting.
A Baccalaureate Degree and 2 to 3 years in an acute care setting or a
Nursing Diploma with a minimum of 3 - 5 years nursing experience in an
acute care hospital setting and registration with Yukon Registered Nurses
Association (YRNA) is required for this position. You must be committed
to becoming certified as an Infection Control Practitioner (CICP) and
becoming a member of Community and Hospital Infection Control
Association - Canada (CHICA) as soon as possible after hire.
