The Foundation is currently recruiting for:
Camper Support Specialists
March and Summer Camp Contracts

Camp Locations:
• St. George, Ontario
• Parry Sound, Ontario
• Kananaskis, Alberta
• Tatamagouche, Nova Scotia
• Quyon, Quebec
• Whiteshell, Manitoba

Summary:
Reporting to the General Manager, the Camper Support Specialist is responsible for supporting counselors in meeting the needs of their campers. The Camper Support Specialist is a member of the Wellness team and is a trained mental health professional with the knowledge and skills necessary for providing behavioral, social, emotional, and mental health support to campers (and staff). They will act as the camp “social worker” for any special needs of campers and they will communicate and collaborate closely with managers, counselors, children, and parents/guardians.

Job Requirements

Qualifications
• Degree in social work, youth work or related field
• Membership with appropriate regulatory body
• Experience working in a camp environment or in support services for children
• Knowledge and experience with children’s mental health and behavior management
• Demonstrated understanding and sensitivity to the challenges faced by children from low-income families
• Strong understanding of anti-oppression in assessing and managing children with behavioral/emotional/mental health needs
• Excellent interpersonal and social skills
• Ability to communicate directly with and provide guidance to counselors, children, and parents/guardians
• Ability to make independent decisions in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to mediate conflict in a constructive and professional manner
• Previous exposure to THCF programs an asset
